Monroe l meeting was for discussion on handling marine patrols for the coming season.

It was confirmed that Joe Steinfeld will not be continuing at marine patrol liaison.

Sargeant Semosky has agreed to act as liaison with the four member town police departments.  He will work with the towns on scheduling of police officers and to ensure that information flow between LZA and the departments is timely and inclusive.  He will also ensure that all required documentation of police activity is completed and he will attend LZA meetings as needed to summarize activity and deal with marine patrol related issues.

The marine patrol committee will work with Sargeant Semosky on patrol driver scheduling.  One of the objectives will be to ensure cancellation and re-scheduling of shifts is done fairly. The current drivers will be asked for their availability so an initial schedule can be produced.

Commissioners discussed scheduling guidelines which are intended to maximize the amount of patrol time within the budget.  One of the changes is to have the drivers handle boat set up and clean up and have the police officers report directly to the boats such that on water patrol time is almost the entire police officer shift.

There was discussion on required training for police officers; an objective will be to have all officers that work the patrols to be fully certified in use of the acoustic meter, to be current with boating laws/regulations and to have their Boating Certificate.  This may take more than a season to achieve completely.

It was also confirmed that there is no “rank” for patrol drivers.

Motion to adjourn the meeting at 9:10 p.m. was made and unanimously approved.
